3. Application procedure
3.1. First you should see if the domain name your want to use is still available by logging onto http://www.cnnic.net.cn and click “CN Domain Name” on the homepage, then type the domain name you want to register into the first column such as: abc.com.cn
3.2. If the result is that “the domain name you look for doest not exist” you can register this name. Please download Domain Name Application Form and Domain Name Registration Agreement.
4. Documents Required
4.1. Only government agencies are allowed to register domain gov.cn, so a Letter of Reference from a government agency must be presented, together with Domain Name Application Form and Domain Name Registration Agreement.
4.2. For the registration of other domain names, copy of the duplicates of the business license and Domain Name Application Form and Domain Name Registration Agreement.

6. Types of Domain Name
There are 6 types of CN domain names：
6.1. COM—industrial, commercial and financial companies
6.2. NET—suitable for internet, NIC and NOC of access network
6.3. ORG—Non-profit organizations
6.4. AC----research institutes
6.5. GOV—government agencies
6.6. EDU---educational institutions
7. Provisions on domain name registration
7.1. The applicant shall be a legally registered organization that can independently bear its civil liability. Any foreign company or organization that wants to apply for a CN domain name must have a branch company or office in China.
7.2. An applicant can apply for many domain names.
7.3. The primary domain name server must operate in China.
7.4. It’s forbidden to transfer, sell or buy a registered domain name.
7.5. Documents needed: application form and registration agreement with the applicant’s corporate seal; copy of the duplicates of the business license or copy of legal registration document of the organization.
7.6. A registered domain name should have less than 20 characters which can either be alphabets from a—z or numbers from 0—9, except for symbol hyphen “-”，other symbols are forbidden.
8. Modification
8.1. The modification of domain name information is carried out by a domain name registrar to which this domain name belong. As to the specific registrar of a domain name, please visit the home page of cnnic, and changing domain name information is free of charge.
8.2. Information that can be modified: any information except for domain name and applicant’s name.
8.3. Domain name users of CNC Beijing branch should fax their corporate-sealed application for the modification of domain name information to 66067774.
9. Domain Name Cancellation
Users registered before Sept. 2002 should return their domain name registration certificates and submit an application to their domain name registrars. Users who registered after Sept. 2002 can directly apply to their registrars for cancellation.
10. Domain name registration procedure for applicants outside Beijing
10.1. Please visit http://www.bjtelecom.com.cn to read documents related to domain name registration and download Domain Name Application Form and Domain Name Registration Agreement.
10.2. Please fax the filled-out application form together with the registration agreement (both of which should have corporate seals) and copy of business license(or copy of any other legal registration document) to 66067774, then confirm by calling 63060861. The name on your corporate seal should be the same as the registered applicant’s name.
10.3. After an applicant has faxed his application documents, he should send registration fee to our bank account, following is our bank account information:

10.4. Please carefully fill in the money order, under the item “purpose of the money order” please write domain name fee for XX Company, and ask the bank staff to carefully enter your money order information. Then fax the copy of your money order and invoice address to 66067774. (a sample of money order)
10.5. We will pre-register the applied domain name and wait for your payment when we have received a full set of application documents. In the event that we don’t receive your payment 10 days after we have received the application documents and fax of the money order, we reserve the right to delete this domain name.
11. Domain Name Transfer
11.1. An application form with corporate seal
11.2. Please fax the application form and the duplicates of the business license or other similar documents to 66067774.
11.3. The domain name can be transferred to our domain name system in 5 workdays.
